Thai government launches online fruit sales program
Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce is preparing to launch online fruit sales, aiming to become an intermediary between farmers and consumers.
The project was announced by deputy commerce minister Sonthirat Sonthijirawong. Named the Offline 2 Online @ Chanthaburi project, it will help increase the distribution channels of fruit via the website www.eastfruit.org.
Sonthijirawong says Chanthaburi, which sits on the border with Cambodia, has been chosen for a pilot project because it is well-known among foreigners and recognised globally.
The website will provide consumers with pricing information.
