IndieDish wins startup battle at tech conference
Healthy-food delivery startup IndieDish has won the Top 100 Fight Club Thailand event at tech startup conference Echelon Thailand 2017.
The two-day conference was organised by tech media platform E27 in collaboration with Startup Thailand and the National Innovation Agency.
IndieDish beat out 12 other Thai-based startups, shortlisted from more than 100 entries, to win the Fight Club prize, which includes two tickets to the Echelon Asia Summit in Singapore, access to a VIP dinner with invited investors and corporates, and a free exhibition booth.
Founded by two former Amazon employees, IndieDish delivers healthy food at THB89 (US$2.60) a meal on average in Bangkok. Based on pre-orders it receives, which can be up to a week in advance, IndieDish works out the most efficient route for its delivery drivers through Bangkok’s congested traffic.
IndieDish has delivered more than 18,000 meals so far. While it does not offer on-demand/same day delivery services, it is working toward this.
The Fight Club judges were impressed with how thoroughly the IndieDish team had thought through the delivery process, and say they were drawn to its mission to broaden healthier food choices in Thailand.
Meanwhile, the fan-favourite prize, based on a live audience poll, went to Primo, an app that organises and consolidates promotions from a user’s credit cards and membership cards. The app then pushes personalised deals based on the user’s preferences and budget.
The remaining startups will be considered for the Top100 Finale at Echelon Asia Summit, in Singapore on June 28 and 29. The E27 platform will continue to support them by connecting them to stakeholders and investors all year around.
